It seemed like yesterday that we boarded the plane to Vietnam, and now we’re back already, 7 days later, with different stories to tell. As many of the team-members that went, we’ve concluded that Vietnam was totally different compared to Cambodia last year, and in the wise words of Joel, “We did less, yet, we did more.”.
It’s a truly humbling experience to be part of what could be a national revival in Vietnam. It was a humbling experience to see 60-year old ah-mas being so passionate in worship – jumping and dancing before the Lord, without any fear of ‘losing face’. It was heartening to see young boys, carry heavy flags, waving them, ushering in the presence of God. It was humbling to hear of people taking precious leave from work, just to hear a bunch of youths share on worship. It was humbling to be in the presence of people who have suffered, been put in jail, and who have started churches from nothing, and yet, bestowing us the priviledge to share the pulpit together with them. It was heart-warming to know that a nation that has a per capita income almost 30 times lower than Singapore, the people are still genuine and sincere in their giving and hospitality. To think that they climb fruit trees to pick the biggest, and best looking fruits for us to eat, fruits which they could potentially sell to make a living.
There are plenty of things else that I could say that we’ve learnt in Vietnam, but in summary, I’ve been won over by their sincerity and their love. Their passion for God and what they believe God can do in their Nation. I sense a new season of Hope for them. After over 100 years of political strife in their nation, there is this level of Hope, not just in the physical, but in the Spiritual as well.
And yes, it’s but 21 more days till 2009 draws to and end, and 2010 begins. Indeed, time flies! It really has been an exciting 2009 for me, and I’m looking forward to a fruitful 2010!
Elizabeth and her family is currently holidaying in Bahrain/Jordan! And from what she has been telling me, it seems like she has been having plenty of fun! So that’s good!
But yes, I still can’t wait for her return though! 8 more days!
It’s going to be quite a busy next 2 weeks, preparing for Christmas and Youth Camp, but I’m uberly excited this festive season, not so much about the holidays and stuff, but this level of expectancy of what God is going to do!
Are you ready for God’s move?
Currently on a conquest to know My God more and more each day, to encounter Him daily, and to live in His mercies which are new every morning.
